FAQs

  • Exposure therapy is a supportive, step-by-step approach that helps people face their fears in a safe and caring environment. If things like certain places, activities, or memories cause anxiety or distress, exposure therapy gently guides individuals to approach these fears instead of avoiding them. Over time, many people find that their worries feel less overwhelming, and daily life becomes easier to navigate.

Working together, the therapist and client build a plan that feels comfortable, moving at a pace that honors the client’s needs and readiness. This kind of therapy is especially helpful for anxiety, phobias, panic, and PTSD—and it’s grounded in trust, progress, and real-life skills to help clients feel stronger and more empowered.

If worries or fears are holding someone back, exposure therapy can offer safe, guided support to move forward, one small step at a time.

  • The number of sessions needed for exposure therapy can vary depending on personal goals, the severity of symptoms, and the specific type of therapy being used. However, many people see meaningful progress within 8 to 15 weekly sessions.

Some individuals may need more sessions, while others find relief more quickly. Your therapist will work collaboratively to set a pace that feels right and check in regularly to ensure therapy is meeting your needs. Progress is often reviewed together, so therapy can be adjusted as recovery unfolds.

  • At this time, sessions are covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) insurance. For all other insurance plans, payment is out of pocket at a rate of $175 per session. If interested, a detailed receipt can be provided for self-submission to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Please feel free to reach out with any questions about payment options or how to get started.
